Advancing Oral Health Research

Research Mission

Biobehavioral Research

We investigate the biological mechanisms linking oral health to systemic conditions, with a focus on the oral microbiome and inflammation.

Our key research areas include:

  •  The impact of oral health on birth outcomes and cognitive impairment

  • The biological and clinical effects of  use of e-cigarette on oral health, microbiome dynamics, and inflammatory pathways.

Translational Research

Our work bridges laboratory discoveries with clinical applications, aiming to transform oral healthcare practices. We focus on:

  • Developing interventions to improve oral health outcomes

  • Identifying biomarkers for early detection and prevention of oral health-related systemic diseases

  • Enhancing the integration of oral health in overall patient care

Population Health Impact

We address real-world challenges in oral healthcare by promoting health equity and access. Our research drives include:

  • Strategies to bridge gaps in oral healthcare for underserved populations

  • Community-based initiatives to improve awareness and preventative care

  • Policy and advocacy for equitable oral healthcare solutions
